Desk joinery reconstruction

We are moving into an apartment where one room has a built in desk supported by solid wooden units at either end. We would like to remove the desk and units, halve the length of desk and have it reconstructed in a different room, using one of the existing wooden units and the leftover desk top as a return support structure.
