Project description

This bathroom renovation was done on a 1920's workers bungalow steeped in Onehunga history, we even found a newspaper dated February 1924 hiding under the bath and in near pristine condition given its age.
This was a great transformation that came with the usual challenges typical of a house this era; house piles founded on tree stumps, floor 40mm out of level over the length of the bathroom and a room that's not square or straight. We partially removed the existing wall linings; only up to where the tiles would finish, and remediated the framing to create straight and square walls. We completely removed the existing floor and rebuilt it from scratch to make it level as well as lowering it to bring the tiles flush with the existing hallway timber floor boards to achieve a true level entry bathroom.
Our client's fittings, fixtures and tile choice was spot on with the era of the house. It maintains the classical feel with a very modern touch leaving an end result that everyone is proud of.
