SGB Construction are Wellington based Licensed Building Practitioners.
The company SGB Construction was set up in 2017 by Sam Guerin, Prior to operating SGB Construction Sam was operating as a GST Registered sole trader carpenter since 2014.
Our team currently consists of 15 crew, 8 Qualified Builders, 1 Qualified Roofer and 4 Carpentry Apprentices and 2 Labourers.
SGB have a diverse range of skill sets amongst our crew, we have experienced and talented finishing carpenters, experienced concrete placers and even a qualified roofer. We also have a full time QS/Project Manager that deals with our payment claims and programs. We pride ourselves on delivering projects on time, within budget and to a high-quality finish. Honesty, integrity and quality craftsmanship are core SGB values and an integral part of all projects SGB undertake.
Our main expertise and experience is with extensive renovation projects – often on character homes. We also carry out several light civil and commercial projects. There are often many risks and challenges associated with this work. More often than not we are tying in or working around an existing structure. The structure we work around generally needs temporary support and weather tightening. There are also often challenges around ensuring alignments work out with new and old structures, especially when existing buildings are often not plumb, level or square! While ensuring our new building work complies and is carried out to a high standard we must also endeavor to carry out finishing work using styles and materials sympathetic to the homes era.
We really enjoy the problem solving required on these projects and strive to constantly expand our knowledge of alternative products and efficient methods of construction.
At SGB we endeavor to maintain great communication with the architect and the homeowner throughout each project. We engage and coordinate a team of highly skilled and qualified sub-trades to ensure the seamless transition between trades over the duration of a project.
In the construction industry there can be a huge amount of wastage, harmful materials and building bi-products. We strive to consciously reduce our effect on the environment by using recycled, sustainable and renewable materials wherever possible. Where possible we try to steer design toward more sustainable materials. We aim to avoid using products with unnecessary extra packaging and aim to minimize our waste taken off site.
Health and Safety is of utmost importance to us. We always ensure relevant Health and Safety plans are in place, tailored to each site and stage of work. We appreciate the safety of the public and anyone working in or around our sites is imperative and make it our duty to eliminate or minimize any risks associated with our work. We have regular toolbox meetings and safety audits. Our team are regularly undergoing extra training to be able to identify risks and hazards associated with our work.
