Shade House for Botonist

The Shade House Construction Project The client's job brief was to construct a shade house for plants, to be built outdoors in line with the existing work space. The goal was to create a varying temperature zone for different plant species, requiring a structure that could offer partial sunlight and protection. The design solution involved closing the gap between a concrete garage and a wooden fence, effectively utilizing the space in between for the shade house. - Constructed fences and gates at both ends of the shade house for privacy and controlled access. - Designed gates with hinges on one side and a door latch on the opposite, providing easy entry and security. - Outfitted the interior space with a ceiling framework constructed from materials that complied with the New Zealand Building Code, including joists and nogs for a robust support structure. - The lattice ceiling spanned the 3-meter distance between the concrete garage and the wooden fence, creating an overhead support for the shade house cover. - The cover was made from clear plastic corrugation, chosen for its durability and ability to let through sunlight while protecting plants from direct exposure. - The corrugated cover was sloped towards the fence, with spouting and a dropper installed to manage rainwater efficiently, preventing water logging and ensuring a dry interior. - Prepared the ground beneath the shade house by removing the existing bark layer and replacing it with a fine aggregate to level the ground and improve drainage. - Built a potting table within the shade house for a convenient space for plant care and potting activities. - Attached plant hangers to the wooden lattice, offering vertical space for hanging plants and further optimizing the use of available space. This project, from conception to completion, demonstrated the expertise of our team in meeting the client's specific needs while adhering to building regulations and codes. The result was a practical and aesthetically pleasing shade house that catered to the diverse requirements of plant cultivation, seamlessly integrating with the existing structures and enhancing the overall utility of the outdoor space.
