We've been providing construction services for the past 32 years. We work all over Auckland. While we specialize in major renovations, additions and reclads, we have worked over a wide scope of work in the past 32 years and we also do smaller projects. (Please see the majority scope of our work under the photo section and in the description areas). Every project and client is not only important, but understandbly different! We see ourselves as a professional team and work hard to meet deadlines for project completion. We pride ourselves on providing competitive Quotations that are drafted by a qualified estimator who is also a qualified project manager. This gives us the edge, as we built practicality into your Quotation and know that what we quantify is what will work and are needed onsite, but it also brings many other advantages to the way we project manage we believe others wont have with this double qaulification! Whilst it will also ensures pricing provided to you is detailed and accurate, it also means we can complete the project on budget and in time having these to in sinc. There isn't much we can't do after 32 years, but we also believe keeping within a specialised field of work will allow us to excel in what we do even more, it just allows us to do the specialised work and more technical works when needed. Our fields of work is also broader than most other contractors, because of our experience working over 3 countries to date. We provide turn key projects where needed, for explample which includes the Architectural Plans and other Professional Services to each projects need, Consents and final CCC Applications. Our office is there to assist clients and our teams on site and to ensure we provide the best service to you. We put H&S, QC, Insurance and all the other related aspects to your build in place, when executing projects. We deliver our work to the highest standards and quality checks are ongoing by our PM. We are a happy team, that puts the client first and always work with intergity, fairness, honesty and believe a positive outlook makes a huge difference. What makes us different is that we are problem solvers to the core, for every problem there must be a solution, even if you need to custom make an item yourself! We began our journey with Retro Construction late 2024 - it was a reclad and new windows renovation. With a few delays the job was completed in late 2025 with the issuing of the Certificate of Compliance. We are very happy with the end result.

We recently completed a home renovation with Retro Construction, led by Irne, and overall had a solid experience. Pricing is sharp, the quoting was accurate, detailed, and transparent, with final costs matching what was agreed (including variations). The core build work carried out by Irne and his builder was to spec and of high quality, particularly the foundations, structural work, and major building elements. We also appreciated the care taken with important details, such as the finish of the living space doors and the fireplace mantelpiece. They quickly identified and addressed unexpected issues like rotting framing, which we valued. Angie was responsive and helpful through most of the project. We’ve deducted one star due to a few finishing and coordination issues. Communication slowed toward the end of the project. The painting, done by a subcontractor, had a visible sheen mismatch on one wall. The electrical subcontractor’s work did not fully match the drawings, with some items never resolved. Site clean-up could also have been better. For example, some excavated dirt was swept directly onto the bark garden rather than disposed of, and although a broken window was repaired quickly, we’re still finding small pieces of glass in the garden beneath it. Overall, Irne and Angie are professional, friendly, and easy to work with. We enjoyed working with them and would recommend Retro Construction for the quality of their main construction work and accurate quoting. The services connected to us via our sub-contractors like the electrician and glass installer are services we as PM need to manage as excellent as our own work. We appologise that this did not happen as accurrately as needed. I understand the wall painting issue was revolved, unforturtuntely we needed to use an outside contractor too as our own was on leave.
