Home owners that have ageing or recently installed membranes at there residences ie: fibreglass decks ,butynol decks and internal gutters ,torch on decks and any flat roof membranes need to be aware that these membranes when damaged due to nz,s harsh wet weather in conjunction with no aftercare plan leads to rapid deterioration. any waterproofing membrane is expensive to re- install or replace and a lot of these companies fail to give there clients the simple required aftercare maintenance advice that is needed to ensure your product does not deteriorate well before its life expectancy.
Your gutters , and in particular fibreglass decks require simple once a year cleaning/solutions and re checks for punctures/damage and then a simple affordable recoat every 4 years ( for fibreglass) to essentially ensure maximum life . .and beyond .
Natural weather conditions create a living mould that when left over long periods will effectively "eat" into ur membrane where leaking can occur into whatever is under your deck/balconies and in most cases your entire roof!
By the time u realise its usually too late and major structural damage to the ply underneath rots away over the years and then needs to be replaced and of course by then your looking at between --- to fix and in some cases much more when u get builders involved .
