- There is inadequate subfloor ventilation to the base of the dwelling and ventilation grilles should be installed at no more than 1.8m centres to allow for cross flow of air to dry the subfloor ground and prevent dampness. - Both the front and rear ends of the dwelling have no manhole doors and cats are defecating in the area and beginning to pull insulation out from between the joists and these areas should be screened or gated off to prevent this from occurring. c. The application of a damp proof moist stop barrier over the subsoil ground would prevent the uptake of moisture in this area and provide some benefit in increasing the thermal characteristics of the dwelling.
