Stripping slate floor?

We have slates down in kitchen,laundry and bathroom.It looks like it has a urethane coating which has broken down as it has gone dull and milky. We would like these stripped back and refinished if poosible.There will also be areas to be patched as we are looking at taking down existing walls etc . We have spare slate to match.
