Job description

New & Replacement Concrete Tile
North Shore

Published: 27 April 2024

We have a disconnected overflow water pipe protruding from our roof. The pipe was previously connected to our old water cylinder that was located inside our property. We had this water cylinder removed and reinstalled a new water cylinder outside of our property, the pipe protruding from our roof was disconnected in the wall in our bathroom (we cut a hole in the GIB to access the pipe, pipe was cut and capped and still accessible). We think that because the pipe was disconnected it now has movement in the wind. This has resulted in water coming down the outside of the pipe from the roof. We know this because we have monitored the pipe in the bathroom wall and can see water trickling down the outside of the pipe occasionally. We need an experienced roofer/trades person who can: 1. Safely access our roof with their own PPE recommendations (harness, rigging etc.). 2. Remove the existing disconnected pipe (it's a short section from where it's been cut). 3. Repair the hole in the roof left from the removed pipe. The roof tiles are concrete tiles. We do not know if a matching tile is required or the flashing on the roof can be 'plugged' or replaced and are under the guidance of expert recommendations. We think that the highest point of the roof is approximately 8 metres. Access to the lower roof is straightforward from our raised deck at the rear of the property with a ladder. This lower roof might be an option for easier access. We know that scaffolding costs can be prohibitive. So if scaffolding is a requirement and you have your own scaffolding that could be used then please advise. Our preference is access with PPE safety harnessing/rigging if this is safely possibly. We are unsure as to the best option but are prepared to hire a cherry picker if this is necessary unless you have a picker that can reach and access the pipe safely. If you'd like to visit to have a look then please get in touch, happy to accommodate.
