Check and possibly replace waste water pump

The domestic waste water pump in our laundry, which drains our washing machine and sink, seems to be working only intermittently leading to flooding. The pump, which is probably 20 years old, needs to be check and replaced if needed. The pump can be easily accessed as it sits within the sink cabinet. We'd like to get this job done as soon as possible.
