Crack repair in external cement board on the first floor of two-storied house

We have a narrow, footlong vertical crack in the external cement board on the first floor of our two-storied house. When the rain is heavy and the wind is easterly, it is letting water into the house that drips along a beam that is aligned with the external crack. So, the crack needs to be plastered.
