Cover up ceiling tiles

90m2 house all rooms currently have ceiling tiles. We would like to investigate our options to cover these tiles throughout the whole house but particularly in the lounge because someone put there foot through a couple of these tiles and they are broken. Not sure if this can be skimmed over? Plastered over? Wallpapered over? Costs to replace the roof with gib are also being investigated seperatley but so far looks to be a bit expensive. Depending on cost and options we will either do just the lounge or the entire house The lounge area approx 7.7 x 5.0 mtrs
