Patch hole where previous owners had a cat door

Hi, The previous owners of my house had a cat door installed in the wall. There's now a hole in the wall where they removed it. I'm wanting to patch the hole on both the interior and exterior, making it weathertight again. I would like to plaster and paint the exterior patch. I already have exterior paint and interior gib which can be used for the job. Thanks!
