Gib patch

Job description

Plasterboard Repair
Auckland

Published: 17 October 2012

I have replaced a 3way bathroom fan with a single fan which occupies a smaller space. I need someone to patch the area around the new fan and plaster it. Job to be done afternoons next week.

Hole in ceiling was patched and appeared good but was not long before the edges of the patch cracked. I assume that means it should have been taped before it was stopped but unsure the exact reason this happened.

Tradesperson reply
"I did the best I could under the circumstances, it was almost impossible to do the job properly given the way the electrician had left the space to be Gib stopped...he did a very bad job... and this should not reflect on my work, this was in a busy bathroom in a rental house, and the steam from all the showers would have cracked the plaster as it was probably not given long enough time to cure in my opinion. I taped all edges as is required. If you have a problem, give me a chance to explain and rectify the situation, but don't give me 2 out of 5 for workmanship when you obviously have not taken all these points into consideration. I take pride in the work I do,and this just makes me look as if I'm a bad tradesman!!"
