Job description

Landscape Retaining Walls (Below 1.5m)
North Shore

Published: 15 September 2021

Work to rebuild a garden retaining wall is required (sloping land already levelled off and soil removed so work is just to build the wall). Land adjacent to the wall is now largely level. Work is required on two short sections of the wall that connect together in a corner. The highest point of the retaining wall is in this corner. It is now 1.06m to the new top of the retaining wall in this corner (and 0.6m to the top of the concrete securing the existing post). On one side, approximately 4m of timber retaining wall by length is required (where currently there is just one long timber plank and no existing retaining wall) that gradually reduces in height to almost ground level at its furthest point. On the other side of the corner (where there is an existing elevated timber retaining wall), approximately 2m in length is required to match in with the existing. As before, the wall will gradually reduce in height at its furthest extent. The Builders crack estimate cost for this length is in the region of $1.7 - $2.9k. I have completed the preparation for this job by flattening out the bank and removing the soil, so work could start at any time after covid level 3 is introduced. However, there is no urgency that would justify a premium price. The photos below do distort what is on the ground as the vertical earth bank seems to merge as one with the horizontal!
