Retaining Wall Repair or Replacement

Job description

Landscape Retaining Walls (Below 1.5m)
Kelson, Hutt Valley

Published on 29 March 2024

Our existing retaining wall has seen better days and has started to significantly sag in one place. I'm picking that it's past repair and needs full replacement, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong! The current retaining wall is at least 25 years old and may date back to when the property was constructed in 1973. It's made of wooden half-rounds and metal ties, with some concrete. The weather has not been kind. It has a significant sag at one point where it's no longer providing support. Across the front of our property, the existing retaining wall next to our lawn is approximately 9m long. It is almost 1m tall at the corner next to the fence, and slopes down to meet the path. Along the fence, the retaining wall is approximately 4.5m long and slopes down from the corner to just 40cm. We're open to advice on what kind of replacement retaining wall would be best. All our building services (electrical, water, sewer) pass under this area.

I particularly appreciated Todd's good communication - poor weather meant job start was delayed by a day, but I knew what was happening and wasn't left wondering if they were coming or not.
