Job description

Landscape Design
Auckland

I've got an area of approx. 8mx2m (see photos), which is higher than the concrete along the studio and rest of the property in front of it. It is a combination of rock shelf and soil. See the photos where I lifted the weed mat. I don't intend to raise it much more, but just to lay the weed mat and then some pebbles over it that can be walked on, so maybe 20-30mm max. I was looking at 3mm corten steel edging/retaining panels to possibly do this with, as it really just needs to keep little bit of soil that is there and new pebbles from going everywhere. I'd probably use some bitumen paint on one side of the corten steel panels (exposed to the soil), and normal metal paint on the side that will remain visible. The reason I want something very thin is that there is no room to put a 50mm retaining planks and due to rock and rock shelf, this would also require a lot of manual rock breaking for the posts etc. Also, towards the end of that section, which leads to the deck, we'll need to figure out some kind of transition to the deck. I was thinking of possibly some kind of removable step made of decking material I have leftovers from or something similar. So I am really looking for someone who does have experience with corten steel garden edging/retaining to have a look and propose how they'd like to attack this, and also types of pebbles etc, and of course when they can do it and cost. I don't need this done yesterday, but also don't want it to drag on for months either. I am also open to different approach, as long as the space between this elevated section and concrete along the studio is not reduced by more than 3-5mm.

If I could give 10/10, I would. Great design, attention to detail, and execution. Sasha listened carefuly to my requirements and delivered brilliantly. Job came under the estimated cost, so I am very happy about that too. Genuinely nice guy, hard worker and thinks outside the box. Sasha is a rare find, and I wholeheartedly recommend him, and also hope to be able to get him to help me with the rest of my backyard.
