Help with Tivo unit and needing help with signal (satellite dish)??

Good Morning, I currently have Telstra Clear set up at home with a satellite dish but my partner and I want to save some money, so we are considering TIVO. As TIVO works on a normal aerial, we think that TIVO wont work in our area of Karori. As a normal aerial at our house does not give us very good reception. That was the reason for going to telstraclear in the first place. When we went to talk to the lady at the Telecom store in town, she said that TIVO may be able to be connected to a satellite dish (like the skydish we have on our roof) to allow us great reception when we use TIVO. Is there any chance you have any experience with this and can let us know if there is a way around this, where we can have TIVO and good reception with a satellite dish? Thank you.
