Broken Wardrobe closet Rod

The fitting which holds the clothes Rod in my wardrobe came loose after hanging a large amount of clothes. The wooden panel which holds the screws is a weak material and disintegrated essentially, looks like particleboard. I only want to refit the fitting in a different position of the board but with deeper screws as I'm a tenant and can't make any substantial changes. I'm open to other suggestions if you have a better solution. Thanks
