ceiling sheet installation

Hi I have and live in a 10m motorhome. Due to age the carpeted ceiling is flaking For a quick and cheap option could I use vinyl sheeting to cover the flaking carpet ceiling? Carpet ceiling flaking off, especially when touching it? Essentially the corking flakes out a synthetic fiber dust. This cannot be safe to breathe in and living full time in the RV, already has affected my health. I need to cover the ceiling with either vinyl or PVC sheeting. Its an urgent request as I am feeling the effects of breathing in this dust from flaking carpeted ceiling. Thanks Regards Valtyn
