Cat-capturing

Job description

General Handyman Tasks
Auckland

Published: 5 December 2014

I have been feeding two wild cats, who have become semi-tame, with the aim of taking them to the SPCA. However, two local cats, one himself a stray, have taken them over and I have a litter of four kittens outside and a litter of four kittens under my bed. The male cats rule the roost and have taken to bursting through the cat door and beating up my own neutered cat and spraying inside. I have tried cat traps from Hire pool ( I caught my pet cat twice) and I have tried chasing the two mother cats with netting. Since I walk with a cane, you can imagine how silly that is. I need someone to capture the cats so I can gather the kittens and cats and get them off to the spca for some other person to worry about. The SPCA btw says I have to catch the cats - it won't send anyone out.

This was a difficult situation and they really tried. But they should have listened to Lonely Meeow woman advice (or told me Lonely Meeow existed and handed job over to her). Taking away kittens that were too young to be separated from their mother and refusing to reunite them was awful.

Tradesperson reply
"Hi there, We were told the cats were semi-tame and with a vet association certificate in animal science I had gained, knew this would be fine to try and capture the mothers and kittens. Raywyn from the cat coaltition not Lonely Meow where she was asked to leave for difficulties, was a backup as the woman is difficult to deal with, but good at capturing wild cats. I had it on good authority that' she was a last resource. We do believe she has given you the wrong information, we took your deck apart and also purchased nails and spent over the time we had intended trying to capture the cats. They were not semi-tame at all, they were wild. We were fortunate enough to be able to take 4 of the kittens with us, so they were no longer under your bed soiling all carpet etc.. We called up cat coatition after we spent 5 hours enticing the wild cats, to be told by here she couldn't take the kittens as she was out in half hour and we were to take them to the s.p.c.a. where they would have been put down next day. Fortunately for the kittens we didn't take them there or animal control as they were closed and took them back to my place where my older son has taken care of them , bottle feeding etc.. He wont surrender them back to the wild mother nor the s.p.c.a. whom you were dealing with from the start, but wouldn't capture for you. We know they are safe and have a chance of a good life with us and several other homes who would like to take them when older. We feel good about the taking the job when no one else had, and have no regrets even though you choose to leave us with a poor score in one category. Meow !!! "
