Bird proofing the chimney

Have had 2 pigeons fall down the chimney in the past 3 days with resultant damage, and fouling - haha.. No joke actually. Thanks for quality help available. Possibly no waterproofing or flashings required. Blocking not an option. Need a chimney pot installed but unsure how it is afixed. Public liability insurance a necessity - no claims pending..
