Gibbing / fireplace remodel / tiling

This is what we have; 1/ Built in wood burning fire, built in to wall so it's front face is pretty much flush with wall / flue is behind wall. 2/ tiling on wall surrounding the fire, which runs up wall to ceiling. Tiles glued to wall. 3/ open shelving on either side of fireplace, from floor up about 2/2.5 feet high. What we'd like; 1/ Open shelving filled in / gibbed over. 2/ tiles removed 3/ preferably no tiling on wall around fire, if possible, otherwise tiling to mantle height and some sort of mantle piece fitted. 4/ wall where tiles have been removed to be fixed ready for painting We'll do any painting ourselves.
