Got some skills with boat refurbs, glass work and marine environments? Well we need your capabilities and have a project with a difference! The Auckland Water Ski Club jump ramp lives on the Orakei Basin year-round and is used by many of NZ's best water skiers to jump distances in excess of 55 metres. It was was even used for a Night Jump event in 2011. The ramp is constructed from wood, wrapped in fibreglass and sits on large steel floats (again wrapped in glass). Unfortunately the ramp is in need of some love and a few improvements prior to the start of the skiing season. The changes we will need are as follows: - Removal of existing side curtains and replacement. - The top surface needs to be extended 50cm (under the water line). - Removal of any existing rotten wood panels and replacement. - Re-glass areas that will not live up to another 5 years sitting in salt water. - General clean-up and re paint. - Replacement of the anti-foul. Ideally this work will need to be done on-site so you will need mobile tooling / power. The ramp will be removed from the lake onto hard-standing and will be cleaned of the local mussel population prior to you starting work. Inspections welcome, preferably on a saturday morning. Please come armed with info on your experience working on boats / structures in a marine environment.
