Repair 1930's bungalow window frame (rotten section)

See the attached photo. The blue circled area is where the timber is rotten and broken down. It also can be seen on the inside part of the window frame. The sill seems to be ok, but not sure. We are wanting this section repaired, which ever is cheaper:
- Cut out the rotten section and replace with new - no need to paint;
- Replace entire section of timber window frame - no need to pain.
