Part-time Gardener/Groundskeeper

We are seeking a part-time residential gardener/groundskeeper to tend to an extensive garden, pool, and ponds on the North Shore. This job would entail working approximately 16 hours a week. Hours are negotiable, and can be adjusted seasonally. Duties include, but are not limited to the following: -Organic management of gardens, without (or with very few) chemicals -Weeding without the use of chemical sprays -Pruning trees and hedges, management of topiary -Monitoring and maintaining the health of existing plants -Planting new plants and removing unhealthy ones -Application of mulch, compost, & organic fertilsers -Tidying outdoor areas of fallen leaves (including large palm leaves), limbs, and other debris -Managing garden waste -Skimming of pool and emptying skimmer, and other pool maintenance as necessary -Managing ponds on the premises -Clearing gutters of debris as needed -Communicating any potential problems on the property,( e.g. invasive species growing in area, broken pipe) Must have prior extensive organic gardening experience with many types of plants. Awareness of the limitations of septic and tank water systems is required. You must be physically fit and able to carry heavy items and enjoy working outdoors. We are looking for someone who works to a high standard and is passionate about the environment and will also be mindful of managing a small ecosystem of native life in the garden. The successful applicant must have a clean criminal record and be reliable and trustworthy. Equipment and supplies can be provided.
