Remove some carpets and sand and varnish all floors

My house has wooden floors in some rooms and carpeting in 2 bedrooms and the lounge. I would like to remove all carpeting and have the floors sanded and varnished. It is likely that most of the floor under the carpeting is wood, but I am aware of some areas where wooden boards would need to be added when the carpets are removed, so that would need to be assessed at the time.
