I have discovered a patch of dry rot in one 5-metre-long floorboard in my apartment. It appears that the original hardwood timber floor (possibly rimu) had a 5m length of softer timber inserted into it at some point as a repair (which must have been more than 25 years ago since I have been here that long). The rot seems to be only in the one plank. The (harder) timber planks on each side of the rotten one appear unaffected but they will probably need to be replaced as well to ensure the rot doesn’t spread.
