Living room floor repair - Hole due to old water damage

There is a hole on the floor of our lounge (carpeted area). I believe the hole has formed due to previous water damage from a water pipe leak which caused an area of our floor to become brittle. The floor was repaired a few years ago, this piece of floor is on the edge of that repair. The noticeable affected area is around 90 CM by 50 CM but it may be larger - It is hard to tell with the carpet in place. There is access to the floor underneath our house for a visual inspection if required. The area affected is in our lounge and is carpeted. The job would require temporarily uplifting the carpet & underlay, repairing the floor, and putting the carpet back down.
