We have a single straight set of stairs, 10 treads in length, 2.5m long. The stairs are supported on each edge by a normal stud wall, and the space underneath forms an accessible cupboard. We want to create a clear area under the stairs, and remove the walls. Ideally, the stairs would be supported by a single streel or LVL wood beam and then bolted at each end or supported by further steel or wood posts. The treads are solid 90m 100-year-old pine slabs so will hold up nicely when supported.
