hot water not working

Our electric hot water cylinder stopped working around 9pm last night (22nd November). We noticed the electrical service panel had the hot water switch in the opposite position to the others. We flicked that but it hasn't worked. We've also turned the switch by the cylinder off and on a few times. Still no hot water and the cylinder is still cold. Unsure of what to do next to get it working. Probably something simple! Help!
