Kitchen fan installation

Small house, no range hood, stovetop is below windows - and I just moved out so I'm looking to make it rental-compliant. Am thinking a simple extractor fan install through a window above/behind the stove top. Looking to arrange some photos to post. I'm out of town until early Jan but can arrange access to the property.
