Installing a new pendant light

We would like a new pendant light installed in an extension of the living room. There is no existing wiring in that part of the house except for an outlet. The roof of the extension is flat, so I am not sure how big the roof cavity is. If installing a pendant light would be too difficult, installing wall lights are an option instead. Once it has been determined which type of lighting would be best to install, we're very keen to get the job done as soon as possible.
