Light secured to ceiling

We have a hanging light fitting, like an iron chandelier. It is just screwed into the ceiling. After the recent quakes, I would like to have a builder (presume this falls under the work of a builder?) to secure this. Perhaps bolt it to the beams in the attic, or steel wire rope / cable? could be used. We have 3 of these in our house. I have a young son who plays under these, and would like to feel he is safe! Thanks.
