Ceramic connectors live or not

We have six old ceramic electricity connectors on the side of our 1938 built house. These are no longer connected to anything, but we have a painter/plasterer doing our exterior at the moment who has offered to remove them and repair the wall before painting. We need these connectors tested for current before he goes near them.
