Lay underground cabling for fibre installation

Job description

Fibre Optic Cabling
Auckland

Published: 21 April 2022

Hi everyone: Situation: I am trying to get fibre installed at my 2014-built house without overhead cables. There is an existing underground copper wire, but the electrician who worked on the original build laid this recalls that trying to use the copper wire as a draw wire did not work and thinks it may be squashed or the conduit is broken. There is no external copper box located on the house - Chorus technician has already looked and thinks the only option is an aerial cable. Possible solution: The original electrician thinks an option is to lift up a line of bricks on the driveway to get an underground cable to the boundary, and maybe a few floor timber boards on the walkway going to front door, to bring up from below on that switchboard wall which is located in the garage. However, you might have different ideas. The job: Get the house ready for fibre connection without using overhead cables. You might just do enough for Chorus/Local Fibre Company to do the rest of the ONT box install; or you might do it all and all I have to do is connect a modem. I've given four photos ranging from a wide angle of the street and the nearest pole, the driveway and the wood walkway, and the communications box. Happy for you to give some estimated quotes via Builder's Crack; also happy if you would like to come view the property. I would have various other electrical jobs as well if you were interested, although the fibre is the priority right now.
