Stop the RCD from tripping

Our RCD has been tripping every few days. This means the lights don't work. We suspect the hot water cylinder may be involved as it's the only thing on when it's happening. The wiring in the house is supposed to be new-ish - or so our building inspector told us before we purchased. We're not sure if this is related but the dishwasher stopped turning on the first time the RCD tripped.
