Smoke alarm already connected to mains

Hello, I am the landlord for an apartment. I have a smoke alarm that is connected to mains and is not responding to my test for sound. My neighbour has an identical one and their's responds. It is potentially over 10 years old. The Body Corporate have indicated it's my responsibility and have not given me any details of the current smoke alarm. I'd like a new one connected to the mains and prefer for the electrician to arrive in the morning 8am or 9am.
