Job description

Carpet Repair & Stretching
Wellington

Published: 18 February 2016

I had to lift the carpet in one end of our flat due to a water leak and apply waterproofing paint to the wall and floor. The carpet was newly laid approximately 6 months ago. The room is approx 4.1 x 2.1m. I have lifted the carpet along the short length of the room, and lifted it approx 1.5m from the wall. I also needed to remove the tack strips along the 2.1m length so I could waterproof paint the concrete that the tack strips were nailed to. I now need new tack strips put down along the 2.1m length of the room and the carpet stretched back on to the tack strips. Is it possible to glue tack strips to the concrete? The floor is concrete and we have been having trouble with dampness in that corner. I am afraid that if we nail the tack strips down through the waterproof paint which I have applied to the concrete floor, water will rise up and into the tack strips (there was some evidence of this on the tack strips that I removed (and were only installed 6 months ago). Also I am interested in getting someone to plaster the join in the gib from where we needed to repair the wall (sorry I don't have a picture with the wall re-gibbed and new skirting done). The wall needed to be opened up so I could waterproof it. It is essentially an L-shape approx 2m in length. Plastering the join in the gib is the only thing required. I have posted a photo to give you an idea of the area that needs work (unfortunately it is not what it looks like right now). The hole in the wall has been re-gibbed (area is slightly longer than pictured) and the carpet lifted up along the edge with the door.
