I have a membrane and timber deck, which also acts as a ceiling to my laundry. The timber underneath is rotted in parts and the membrane is no longer watertight. Two builders have told me the best and most cost effective long term solution is a floating timber deck over this membrane. There is a cantilevered timber deck adjoining which is in good condition and I'm keen for the floating deck to be level with this if possible. I've been quoted $12k for a floating deck ($5.3k labour, $6.7k materials). This includes raising the balustrade by 100mm to keep in line with the balustrade along the side. It's currently 1000mm high but it is a three-storey drop. The floating deck area would be 2000mm x 7420mm. Would love to know if anyone can beat this quote.
