Scribing to repair steps / weatherboard corner

Looking at protecting the gap between the backdoor tiled steps to our balcony and the weatherboard cladding of our house, by adding a small length of scribing. A couple of pics are attached - the scriber height (from bottom to the top weatherboard) is 670mm, and the gap is varied at 30mm to 38mm. We would like the timber to be primed ready for top-coat painting. It's not a big job, but it would be great if we could have it done in a month or so.
