Ceiling man hole widening

Job description

House Repair & Maintenance
Wellington

Published: 1 March 2023

I need to replace a hot water cylinder within my ceiling cavity. The current man hole is not big enough to fit the new cylinder through. I need the new man hole to fit a 510mm cylinder so perhaps 560mm wide which i imagine means that a small amount of cutting, and reframing of the joists/nogs. If you turn up on site with about 3m of of 4x2 a piece of jib about 560mm square and about four 580mm lengths of skirting board to boarder the new man hole you should have everything you need to get the job done in one trip. No need for the jib or skirting board to be painted. Man hole is within a wardrobe (so will need a drop cloth) where the ceiling is 2.4m high so you will need ladder to suit. Sorry I don't have any photos or current dimensions as I live off site.
