Stairs and balustrades from car deck - repair and upgrade

Hello, I am needing to make these steps more sturdy and secure for the impending birth of my first child and getting around as a new Mum - the work would therefore ideally need to be completed by the end of July latest (baby due early August). * In terms of the technical work - I am not expecting to bring absolutely everything up to modern safety standards but at least make an improvement as to what is there. * The main focus is the steps and the handrail - making the handrail more sturdy and secure and perhaps adding another handrail on the side where there is one missing. * There is also some wood on the balusrades that is rotting. * Potentially have the gaps between the stair treads are closed down to approximately 100 mm for safety.
