We are having our house re-carpeted in 6 - 8 weeks, prior to laying the new carpet we would like to pull up the floorboards in one of the bedrooms and replace any joists that require it prior to laying the new carpet. We had an issue with a rotted beam in the room beside this one due to poor drainage from an outside path (that has been fixed), we pulled up the entire floor in that room and replaced the beam and joists. the builder expected the issue was largely isolated to the room we already repaired but if we are pulling up the carpet it makes sense to have a look under the floor before we lay new carpet.
