repair stairwell

Some of the treads are broken in stairs leading from ground level to the front level of the house which is raised on poles (on a slope, the rear of the house is on the ground). I am worried that only the carpet inside is keeping people who walk on the stairs safe. The carpet is old so I don't mind if it is damaged in the process of getting the stairs repaired. Photos attached show view looking up from below and the view inside (stairs carpeted) Because I have safety concerns I'd really like to not have to wait too long for this repair to be done. And sorry but there is a difficult access to the site, a steep driveway unsuitable for most vehicles without 4WD.
