Lost iPhone in a dance studio

iPhone lost down a wall to floor cavity in a dance studio. Piece of timber is laid across the edge of the dance floor to the wall. (That is where the gap is) The timber piece is not part of the dance floor but is placed on top to close the gap between the wall and dance floor. Screws are varnished over. Know the location of the phone. Owner of the dance studio is concerned with the effect of removing or cutting a small gap in the top piece of wood on the rest of the floor varnish. (Sorry no photos as the phone is lost!) Would greatly appreciate a quick response and easy solution as soon a possible. Many Thanks
