Filling gap between retaining wall and fence

We have had a retaining wall put in as part of some landscaping work, but there is a gap that is big enough for balls, small objects and feet to go through. We would like a solution to this (whether that’s filling the gap with another piece of timber, or attaching netting or mesh in the gaps). Please see photos if this isn’t very clear.
