Broken Cupboard Front

The front of our cupboard (bin) has come off. As per the picture i've tried (and failed miserably) to re-drill holes and re-attached but the short screws don't seem to take. I also tried no more nails which didn't have the hold either. The cupboard front is quite thin so only short screws can be used. Open to ideas and will add more photos tonight.
