Built-in bookshelves

Hi, I'd like to build a bookshelf in this corner part of our house. If you see the photo, you'll see there is a wall with a freestanding bookshelf and I'd like to have built-in shelves there as well as above both the doorways. Our house is rimu so either rimu or a plywood that can be stained a close colour would be great. We like a mid-century modernist type style so it would be a bonus if you have some interest or skills in that aesthetic too. Many thanks.
