Make good a 300mm hole in bathroom ceiling from old fan removal

My bathroom previously had an extractor fan in the ceiling which vented to the roof space. I’ve since had a ducted fan installed (the smaller fan as seen in photo) which vents to outside. The old fan is no longer powered, but still in place currently (I’ll remove prior to work commencing) has a 300mm cutout that I want to have covered with gib or whatever is appropriate, ideally to be flush with the ceiling, which I can then plaster and paint.
